Queensland marks Commonwealth Day with ceremony at Parliamentary Annexe

Commonwealth Day 2026 was observed on March 9 at the Queensland Parliamentary Annexe, celebrating the spirit of unity, diversity, and cooperation among Commonwealth nations.

The ceremony included the participation of Year 10 students from Loreto College Coorparoo, who took on the roles of flag bearers and ushers, assisting dignitaries and guests during the programme. Among those present were members of the Australian Defence Force and representatives connected with Commonwealth institutions.

The event highlighted this year’s theme, “Unlocking opportunities together for a prosperous Commonwealth,” focusing on the importance of collaboration and stronger connections between communities across the Commonwealth.

Held with the involvement of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), the celebration reflected the shared values and partnerships that unite the Commonwealth’s 56 member countries around the world
