Indian community celebrates International Women’s Day in Canberra

The Federation of Indian Associations of ACT Inc. (FINACT), with support from the High Commission of India, Canberra, organised a community event in Canberra to mark International Women’s Day 2026, focusing on the theme “Unity and Strength.”

A highlight of the programme was the unveiling of a new initiative titled “AEKTA,” aimed at bringing women together and creating a supportive platform for greater collaboration and engagement within the community.

The event was attended by representatives from the High Commission, Suzanne Orr of the ACT Government, and women from the Indian community across Canberra. The programme featured stalls, exhibitions, skits, and interactive ice-breaking sessions, encouraging active participation and lively engagement among attendees.

Organisers said the celebration served as an opportunity to recognise the contributions of women while promoting unity, empowerment, and stronger community connections.
