Victoria to host first-ever ProKabaddi League match in Australia

In a landmark announcement, Consul General Dr. Sushil Kumar joined Victorian premier Jacinta Allan, minister for tourism, sport, and major events Steve Dimopoulos, and AFL icons Campbell Brown and Josh Kennedy to unveil plans for Australia’s first ProKabaddi League exhibition match. The match will take place at Melbourne’s John Cain Arena on December 28, 2024, alongside the iconic Boxing Day Test between Australia and India.
The Victorian Government’s decision to host the exhibition match marks a significant boost for kabaddi in Australia, aiming to introduce the popular Indian sport to a new audience. Speaking at the announcement, Premier Allan expressed excitement about this cultural and sporting exchange, which aligns with the strong ties between Victoria’s Indian community and its broader sports-loving public.
