Communities across Victoria came together recently in a spectacular display of colour and culture to celebrate Holi, the festival of colours. The event, filled with lively music, energetic dance, and traditional Indian cuisine, highlighted the essence of joy, unity, and multicultural harmony.
Among the distinguished guests was Dr Sushil Kumar, Consul General of India in Melbourne, who participated in the celebrations alongside Victorian Premier Jacinta Allan MP, state ministers, Members of Parliament, councillors, and community leaders. Their presence reflected the growing recognition of Holi as an important cultural festival in Victoria. A standout moment of this year’s festivities was Victoria’s first-ever ‘Colour Run’, hosted at Wyndham Central College, where Dr Kumar joined students in the vibrant and energetic event. The initiative aimed to promote inclusivity and cultural appreciation among young Australians.
Holi, which symbolizes the arrival of spring and the victory of good over evil, has gained immense popularity in Australia, fostering stronger connections between diverse communities and enriching the state’s multicultural landscape.
