Traditional welcome for Indian Navy officers on reaching Australian shores

Consul General Amarjeet Singh Takhi recently welcomed Indian Navy Sailing Vessel ‘Tarini’ and greeted Lt Cdr Dilna and Lt Cdr Roopa on their arrival in Fremantle, together with representatives of Royal Australian Navy, Australian Army, Indian Veterans in Western Australia and members of diaspora community.
The two women Indian Navy officers displayed extraordinary courage and resilience and clocked 38 days at sea to reach Australia as part of the Navika Sagar Parikrama. They were accorded traditional welcome by playing Parai drums and Kombu Thaarai musical instrument by TAWA. Local media covered their reception.
