Melbourne Consulate marks World Hindi Day with cultural celebrations

The Consulate General of India in Melbourne, in partnership with Sahitya Sandhya, Hindi Niketan Melbourne, and Hindi Shiksha Sangh, hosted a grand celebration to commemorate World Hindi Day. The event began with Consul General Dr. Sushil Kumar reading out the message from the Hon’ble Prime Minister, applauding the Indian community’s dedication to preserving and promoting the Hindi language.
As part of the festivities, awards were presented to winners of Hindi poetry and essay competitions, recognizing their literary talents. Children participated enthusiastically, reciting poems and engaging in various cultural activities.
The event also honored Mrs. Anita Barar and Mrs. Shally Khanna for their significant contributions to the promotion of Hindi in Australia. A special exhibition on the works of renowned poetess Mahadevi Verma, curated by Anita Barar, was displayed, adding a literary touch to the celebrations. The event underscored the growing importance of Hindi in Australia’s diverse cultural fabric.
