Melbourne’s Indian community gathered in large numbers, recently to celebrate Chhath Puja, an ancient Hindu festival honouring the Sun God, with Consul General Dr. Sushil Kumar. The event, organized by the Bihar Jharkhand Sabha of Melbourne, brought together approximately 1,400 members of the Indian diaspora, showcasing India’s vibrant traditions and cultural heritage.
Dr. Kumar joined the celebrations, expressing pride in seeing Indian customs celebrated widely in Australia. The festival highlighted rituals, music, and prayer, honoring India’s cultural roots and providing a festive space for the community to connect and celebrate.
The event marked a meaningful celebration for Melbourne’s Indian community, highlighting the shared values of unity and cultural pride among diaspora members.
