The Consulate, in collaboration with the Bihar Jharkhand Sabha of Australia and New Zealand WA, showcased the rich cultural heritage of Bihar and Jharkhand at the City of Gosnells Fusion Food and Culture Festival on November 8-9, 2024. Local dignitaries, including Mayor Terresa Lynes, Councillor Diane Lloyd, and Councillor Balli Singh, visited the Indian stall and were impressed by the vibrant displays of art and textiles.
The stall highlighted the historical, spiritual, and scenic beauty of these two Indian states, featuring Bodh Gaya, Ashok Stambh, Chath Puja, Madhubani art, and more. A live painting by young artist Aayush Sharma, along with displays of Chhau masks, Gota work, and a tribute to cricket legend M.S. Dhoni, captivated visitors.
The festival also saw 12 young performers from the community presenting a folk fusion dance, choreographed by Rakhi Bose of the Academy of Indian Classical & Bollywood Dance, bringing tribal and harvest celebrations to life. The festival, which attracted over 50,000 attendees, concluded each day with spectacular fireworks, leaving a lasting impression on the multicultural community of Western Australia.
