Australia India Institute facilitates dialogue with Indian leader in Sydney

Discussions focus on diaspora identity and strengthening bilateral ties

Sydney, April 2 (Australia India News Newsdesk)

 Australia India Institute CEO Lisa Singh met with Dr Guru Prakash Paswan, a rising political leader from Bihar, during his recent visit to Sydney under the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade’s (DFAT) Special Visitor’s Program.

The meeting featured an exchange of perspectives on political developments and the role of the Indian diaspora, along with reflections on identity and belonging across different regions. Lisa Singh also spoke about her girmitiya heritage, adding a personal dimension to the discussion.

Dr Paswan’s visit is part of efforts to deepen engagement and promote greater understanding between Australia and India.

The interaction underscored the significance of such exchanges in strengthening bilateral relations and fostering closer people-to-people connections.
