We’ve never seen Prime Minister like him: Excitement builds in Gaya over PM Modi’s visit

New Delhi, Aug 22 (IANS) — A wave of anticipation has swept through Bihar’s Gaya as the holy city prepares to host Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday. The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for development projects worth nearly ₹13,000 crore, marking a major push for infrastructure and growth in the state.

The highlight of the visit is a massive public gathering at Magadh University in Bodh Gaya, where thousands are expected to turn up. Elaborate arrangements have been put in place — from a state-of-the-art pandal at the venue to over 150 checkpoints across the city to ensure top-tier security. The entire route from Gaya Airport to the university has been barricaded, with security forces on high alert.

Residents, who began arriving hours before the event, expressed their admiration for the Prime Minister and his development agenda. “We’ve never seen a Prime Minister like him before. The arrangements are very good, and we are very happy,” said one enthusiastic attendee. Another local added, “PM Modi is doing excellent work, especially for Bihar, and that’s why we have come to welcome him.”

Young supporters too voiced their optimism, calling him “the future of the nation” and praising his vision for a brighter India.

As part of his day-long tour of Bihar, PM Modi will launch projects spanning roads, railways, health, housing, and the Namami Gange mission. Key highlights include the flagging off of the Amrit Bharat Express from Gaya to Delhi, the inauguration of the Muzaffarpur Cancer Hospital, and several new infrastructure initiatives designed to strengthen connectivity and boost development across the region.

With over two lakh people expected to attend, the event is being seen as both a political show of strength and a reaffirmation of the government’s development agenda ahead of upcoming elections.

The mood in Gaya is charged with excitement — chants of support echo across the university grounds as the city awaits the Prime Minister’s arrival. All eyes are now on Modi as he prepares to address the gathering and outline his vision for inclusive and rapid growth in Bihar.
