We invite you to join our Intergenerational Stories Project. Documenting these stories is important because they bridge the gap between different age groups and foster understanding, empathy, and shared experiences. These stories often highlight the wisdom and lessons passed down through generations, emphasising the continuity of cultural traditions, values, and histories. They allow us to explore how the past shapes the present, offering insights into how societal changes impact family dynamics and individual growth. By participating, you will have the opportunity to learn from each other and grow personally.
Through this project, older (e.g., grandparent) and younger (e.g., grandchild) participants will collaborate to co-create digital books that capture meaningful and historically significant times, moments, and places. The books that you create will have a lasting impact on your families and you. Through the project, we will develop your story-writing skills and your knowledge of digital book applications. We will deliver the book writing activity in over six ninety-minute sessions in face-to-face or online modes. There will be no cost for your participation. You will need a digital device such as an iPad, laptop, or desktop to participate.
Associate Professor Vinesh Chandra will lead the project from QUT. He has extensive experience in this area. Some examples of digital stories are in the SEE Library (https://seelibrary.org/). Here are links to some examples of intergenerational stories:
