Mumbai, Aug 18 (IANS) — Actress Tanya Maniktala, who is set to appear in the upcoming series Paan Parda Zarda, has reflected on the powerful experience of working alongside industry stalwarts like Tanvi Azmi and Mona Singh.
Calling the project unlike anything she has done before, Tanya said: “Working on Paan Parda Zarda has been an experience like no other. There’s an unspoken women’s code that emerges when you’re surrounded by strong, talented women — an energy you can’t quite put into words but feel in every interaction. It’s in the encouragement after a take, the quiet support through difficult scenes, and the celebration of each other’s brilliance.”
She added that this shared bond fosters a safe, authentic creative environment: “That love and mutual respect creates a space where you can truly be yourself as an actor.”
From the acclaimed makers of Mirzapur, the series promises to bring forth an ensemble of layered female characters, pushing the boundaries of mainstream storytelling.
Speaking about her co-stars, Tanya shared: “Working with Tanvi Azmi has been inspiring — she carries such presence and wisdom that uplifts everyone around her. Mona Singh brings an infectious energy and sharp instinct that constantly keeps you on your toes. Set in the gritty gangster underworld, the series is centered on illegal opium smuggling in central India. Alongside Tanya, Tanvi, and Mona, the cast also includes Priyanshu Painyuli, Sushant Singh, Rajesh Tailang, and Manu Rishi.
Originally announced in 2023, the project marks a significant venture for Jio Studios. At the time, Mona Singh told Variety that she was thrilled to embark on “a brand-new journey” with Paan Parda Zarda.
