Tamil Nadu-Australia textile ties strengthened in Sydney

Consul General of India in Sydney Dr. S. Janakiraman welcomed Minister for Handlooms and Textiles, Government of Tamil Nadu R. Gandhi at the Consulate on November 21, 2024. Minister Gandhi led a delegation of officials and businesses to Sydney with the aim of fostering ties and exploring business opportunities between Tamil Nadu and Australia.
As part of the visit, a dedicated business interaction was organized in collaboration with the Australia India Business Council (NSW). The session brought together Australian businesses from the textiles and wool industries and the Tamil Nadu delegation to discuss opportunities in establishing warehousing facilities in Australia for efficient product storage and distribution, technical collaborations in textiles, apparel, and wool products, and research and development partnerships on man-made fabrics.
The interaction underscored the potential for mutual growth and innovation, enhancing trade relations between Tamil Nadu’s thriving textiles sector and Australia’s established industries.
