Surveen Chawla talks about her romance with the sense of detachment

Mumbai, Aug 27 (IANS) – Actress Surveen Chawla, who plays the antagonist in the recently released streaming series ‘Andhera’, has shared her thoughts on cultivating a sense of detachment, particularly when it comes to her work and its outcomes.

In a conversation with IANS during the show’s promotions, Surveen explained that her approach is less about being detached from the roles she plays and more about not getting overly attached to success or fame.

“Maybe right now, yes, detachment is my strength because I know what happened when I was too attached,” she said. “It’s not the attachment to a part; it’s the attachment to the outcome of what you are doing. You can’t keep obsessing over, ‘I have to succeed,’ because that’s when it moves further away. It’s a little philosophical, but that’s how you grow in your understanding as an individual. It has created an inner shift in me, and I want to work very hard to maintain that.”

She added, “Going forward, I want to let go of the trappings. This was work—I gave my best, I was rewarded. Now I want to continue taking on whatever comes next with the same mindset.”

‘Andhera’, set in Mumbai, revolves around Inspector Kalpana Kadam and Jay, a medical student, as they delve into a missing-person case that reveals a sinister undercurrent in the city. The series explores the concept of “What if darkness comes to life?” and features Surveen alongside Priya Bapat and Prajakta Koli.

Produced by Excel Entertainment and directed by Raaghav Dar, ‘Andhera’ is currently streaming on Prime Video.
