Mumbai, Nov 4 (IANS): The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the squads for the Senior Women’s Inter Zonal T20 Trophy, with World Cup champion Shafali Verma named captain of the North Zone team.
The tournament, featuring six teams — Central, East, West, North, North East, and South Zones — will be held in Nagaland from November 4 to 14.
Shafali, who was part of India’s recent World Cup-winning squad, is the only player from that team participating in the competition. The 21-year-old played two matches in the global event, stepping in as an injury replacement before the semi-final against Australia. She went on to deliver a match-winning performance in the final against South Africa, scoring 87 runs and taking two wickets — a performance that earned her the Player of the Match title.
Another notable highlight is the inclusion of Niki Prasad, captain of India’s 2025 U19 World Cup-winning team, who will lead the South Zone.
