Mumbai, Aug 26 (IANS) – Actress Saiyami Kher has joined the cast of Priyadarshan’s upcoming film ‘Haiwaan’, starring Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan, and expressed her delight at being part of a project that she says “already feels so special.”
The film has officially gone on floors in Kochi.
“Walking onto the set of Haiwaan has been overwhelming in the most beautiful way. I still remember being a little girl, wide-eyed in theatres, watching Akshay sir redefine action and laughing endlessly at Saif sir’s effortless comic timing in films that shaped my love for cinema,” Saiyami said.
She added that working alongside her childhood icons feels surreal:
“There are moments I have to remind myself this is real — the same faces I once watched from the audience, and today I get to share the frame with them. And then there is Priyan sir.”
For Saiyami, Priyadarshan is more than just a filmmaker:
“He’s a master storyteller who has given us some of the most iconic films. His work was a huge reason why I fell in love with movies. To now be on his set feels like life coming full circle.”
Saiyami said the team has only just started filming:
“I’m soaking it all in — the excitement, the nerves, the gratitude. My heart is full, and I feel incredibly blessed to be part of a film that already feels special.”
Haiwaan brings Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan together on screen after 17 years, their last outing being Tashan. The film is inspired by Priyadarshan’s 2016 Malayalam hit Oppam, an action thriller starring Mohanlal and Samuthirakani.
The original followed a retired judge struggling to protect his daughter from a convict he once sentenced. After the judge is murdered, a visually impaired man loyal to him steps in to defend her.
