New Delhi, Aug 18 (IANS) Ayurveda, India’s traditional system of medicine, holds the potential to introduce new dimensions in paediatric healthcare, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush, Prataprao Jadhav, said on Monday.
His remarks came during the 30th National Seminar of the Rashtriya Ayurveda Vidyapeeth (RAV), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Ayush, themed “Management of Illness and Wellness in Paediatrics through Ayurveda.” The event brought together leading Ayurveda experts, researchers, practitioners, and students to promote holistic child healthcare.
“Ayurveda has always prioritised child health as the foundation of a strong and thriving society. This seminar is a timely initiative to showcase Ayurveda’s comprehensive approach to managing illnesses and promoting wellness in paediatric care. The discussions will greatly benefit practitioners, researchers, and students while advancing holistic paediatric healthcare,” Jadhav noted in his written address.
Vaidya Devendra Triguna, President of RAV’s Governing Body, credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership for giving global recognition to yoga and Ayurveda, while appreciating RAV’s focus on child wellness.
Prof. (Dr.) Manjusha Rajagopala, Director of the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA), highlighted the growing public trust in Ayush systems, supported by robust government backing and the dedication of professionals in the sector.
Dr. Vandana Siroha, Director of RAV, emphasised the importance of the seminar in achieving the vision of “Swasth Balak, Swasth Bharat” (Healthy Child, Healthy India), underscoring the significance of Kaumarbhritya — Ayurveda’s paediatric branch — for comprehensive child wellness.
The seminar featured scientific presentations on evidence-based approaches in paediatric Ayurveda, as well as interactive sessions on preventive and promotive child healthcare.
Experts stressed that combining Ayurveda’s time-tested wisdom with modern scientific validation can strengthen preventive healthcare while addressing emerging health challenges, ultimately shaping healthier and more resilient future generations.
