Mahanaryaman Scindia unanimously elected as youngest-ever MPCA President

Mahanaryaman Scindia Unanimously Elected Youngest-Ever President of Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association

Indore, Sep 1 (IANS) — Mahanaryaman Scindia, son of Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, is set to become the youngest-ever president of the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) after being unanimously elected. The election results will be officially announced during the MPCA’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday.

At 29 years old, Mahanaryaman, who currently serves as vice-president of the Gwalior Division Cricket Association (GDCA) and hails from the former royal family of Gwalior, will be the youngest MPCA president since the association’s founding in 1957. He will also be the third generation of the Scindia family to lead the MPCA, following in the footsteps of his grandfather, the late Madhavrao Scindia, and his father Jyotiraditya Scindia.

Mahanaryaman was granted lifetime membership of the MPCA in 2022 and is the current president of the Madhya Pradesh T20 League (MPL), which held its inaugural edition in Gwalior in 2024.

Alongside him, Vineet Sethia will assume the role of vice-president, former international umpire Sudhir Asnani will serve as secretary, former India women’s cricketer Arundhati Kirkire will be joint secretary, and Sanjeev Dua will take over as treasurer.

According to MPCA sources, two nominations for office bearer positions were withdrawn on Sunday, resulting in the number of valid nominations matching the available posts. Consequently, the formal declaration of the new office bearers on Tuesday is expected to be a straightforward process.

One of the first major responsibilities for the Scindia-led MPCA will be overseeing preparations at Holkar Stadium for the 2025 Women’s ODI World Cup. The stadium is scheduled to host five league matches, including three featuring defending champions Australia, as well as the tournament hosts India’s match against England on October 19.
