The Indian Consulate in Perth held the second edition of its celebration to honor the contributions of the Indian diaspora in Western Australia. With a diverse crowd in attendance, the event highlighted the exceptional impact of the Indian community in sectors like STEM, technology, public policy, and innovation. Chief Guest Stephen Dawson MLC, WA Minister for Innovation and Digital, praised the Indian diaspora’s professional achievements, underscoring their positive influence across key industries in the state.
Dr. Jags MLA emphasized the pivotal role the Indian community plays in Western Australia’s economy and societal growth. Vikas Rambal, Founding Chairman and Managing Director of Perdaman Group, further highlighted this contribution by sharing how Perdaman’s new Urea plant in the Pilbara region has benefited from sourcing Indian talent, skills, and materials.
The event, part of the Ministry of External Affairs’ Promotion of Cultural Ties with Diaspora initiative, also saw the felicitation of several Indian Australians who have excelled in fields such as academics, space research, business leadership, and mining. The ceremony was emceed by Ritika Menon, with Dr. Parwinder Kaur leading the award presentations. The Consul General expressed gratitude for the Indian community’s local achievements and their ongoing contributions to strengthening Australia-India ties.
