India’s Chief of the Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, interacted with veterans of the Indian Army at the Consulate General of India in Sydney as part of his visit to Australia, reaffirming the Army’s enduring bond with its former servicemen.
The engagement provided an opportunity for the Army Chief to acknowledge the dedication and sacrifices of veterans who have served the nation with distinction. He conveyed appreciation for their lifelong commitment to duty and recognised their continued role in upholding the values of the Indian Army, even beyond active service.
General Dwivedi reiterated the Indian Army’s strong focus on veteran welfare and emphasised the importance of nurturing connections with members of the veteran community living abroad. He noted that maintaining close ties with overseas veterans strengthens the broader Army fraternity and reinforces shared traditions and values.
