ECCQ marks International Women’s Day, announces women’s leadership dialogue

The Ethnic Communities Council of Queensland (ECCQ) marked International Women’s Day on March 8 by celebrating the achievements and contributions of women across Queensland, while highlighting plans for its upcoming Women’s Ethnic Network (WEN) International Women’s Day Breakfast 2026.

The breakfast event, themed “Balance the Scales,” will focus on gender equity, leadership, and systemic change. Organisers said the initiative will place particular emphasis on multicultural women’s leadership and explore how women are working to rebalance systems and decision-making processes across the state.

ECCQ also underscored the importance of engaging men as allies and partners in advancing equality and fostering inclusive leadership. The programme aims to encourage meaningful dialogue and ensure that decisions affecting communities are made with active participation from those communities.

Through the WEN platform, ECCQ seeks to strengthen connections, empower women from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, and promote collaborative leadership across Queensland’s diverse society.
