Canberra marks Vishu 2026 with cultural events

Acting High Commissioner joins community for Malayalam New Year event

Canberra, April 14(Australia India News Newsdesk)

Vishu 2026, marking the Malayalam New Year, was celebrated in Canberra with participation from the Acting High Commissioner of India and members of the local community.

The event, organised by the Canberra Ayyappa Samajam, was attended by ACT Minister Suzanne Orr MLA as well as representatives from the Hindu Council of Australia and the Canberra Malayalees Association.

The programme included cultural performances and a traditional Vishu Sadhya, creating a festive setting for attendees to come together and celebrate the occasion.

The celebration reflected the continued importance of cultural events in strengthening community bonds and preserving traditions within Australia’s diverse multicultural landscape.
