Australia’s third women’s ODI against India to be played at Bellerive Oval

New Delhi, Sep 10 (IANS) – The third Women’s One Day International (ODI) between Australia and India, scheduled for Sunday, March 1, has been moved to Bellerive Oval in Hobart, Cricket Australia (CA) announced on Wednesday.

The fixture was originally slated for Junction Oval in Melbourne but had to be relocated after Cricket Victoria informed CA that the venue could not host the day/night game. Installation delays meant the new lights at Junction Oval would not be ready, while ongoing work would have restricted fan access.

Holding the match as a day fixture was also ruled out due to the short turnaround following another day/night ODI in Hobart on February 27. The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) was unavailable as well due to renovation works.

Peter Roach, CA’s Head of Cricket Operations and Scheduling, expressed disappointment at the change. “We were looking forward to celebrating the first international match under lights at Junction Oval. Unfortunately, delays in lighting installation and the unavailability of the MCG meant we had no option but to relocate,” he said.

“We are grateful to Cricket Tasmania for stepping in to host a second match in Hobart and encourage fans in Tasmania to get behind our world champion women’s team. We apologise to fans in Melbourne — refunds will be processed automatically within 24 hours,” he added.

The revised Hobart schedule is:

  • Australia vs India, ODI (D/N) – Friday, February 27, 2026

  • Australia vs India, ODI (D/N) – Sunday, March 1, 2026 (relocated from Junction Oval)

Roach assured fans that women’s international cricket will return to Melbourne next season.
