Australian teams gear up for inaugural Kho Kho WC 2025 in Delhi

Australia is set to make history as its men’s and women’s teams participate in the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup 2025, being held in Delhi from January 13 to 19. This landmark event celebrates Kho Kho, a traditional Indian sport known for its speed, agility, and teamwork, on a global platform.
Australia’s participation was officially celebrated at the High Commission of India in Canberra on January 8, hosted by His Excellency Gopal Baglay, High Commissioner of India to Australia. The event highlighted the growing popularity of Kho Kho in Australia and its potential to strengthen cultural ties between the two nations.
Deepak-Raj Gupta OAM, National Chair of the Australia India Business Council (AIBC), praised the significance of the occasion, stating:
“The Australia India Business Council is proud to support the growing interest in sports as a cultural and economic bridge between Australia and India. Kho Kho exemplifies how traditional sports can unite communities and inspire global engagement. Australia’s participation in the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup shows how deep the connections between Australia and India are becoming.”
Sarah Storey, First Assistant Secretary, South & Central Asia Division, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and other dignitaries also attended the event. They applauded Kho Kho Australia, the sport’s governing body, for its dedication to fostering the game’s development across the nation.
