Philip Green, High Commissioner of Australia to India, recently spent a memorable 24 hours soaking in the rich cultural heritage of Varanasi at the Mahindra Kabira Festival, organized by Teamwork Arts.
The High Commissioner began his day with a serene sunrise over the ghats of the Ganges, accompanied by Yusra Naqvi’s soulful interpretations of Kabir’s poetry. The morning’s tranquility was matched by the profound beauty of the evening Ganga Aarti, where the mesmerizing combination of prayers, lights, and the river created an unforgettable spiritual experience.
In addition to enjoying the cultural festivities, Green connected with the Aravani Art Project team, whose impactful work using art to create safe spaces for the transgender community left a lasting impression. The High Commissioner lauded their efforts, emphasizing the importance of inclusivity and creative expression.
