Melbourne, October 28 (Australia India News Newsdesk)
The Australia India Business Council (AIBC) in partnership with the University of Melbourne hosted a vibrant panel event on the business of fashion, connecting Australia-India relations as part of Melbourne Fashion Week, recently.
This was the first time an AIBC event was featured in the official Melbourne Fashion Week programme—a milestone moment and as the AIBC supports the emerging and exciting space for new partnerships and opportunities in fashion based Australia India bilateral trade.
Moderated by AIBC’s National Chair for Sport, Art, and Culture, Molina Asthana GAICD, the panel highlighted industry icons: Indian-Australian actor and model Sharon Johal (The Block, Neighbours), Australian actor Sarah Roberts (Home and Away, Felony, Neighbours), and Indian-Australian designer Kudrat Makkar (Mastani label). Together, they shared insights on identity, Bollywood’s influence, and exciting cross-cultural opportunities in the fashion world.
The event began with a warm address by Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor, Global, Culture and Engagement Prof. Sara Wills, who discussed the Global Centre in Delhi and ongoing AIBC collaborations, celebrating the University’s alumni contributions.
Held at the Melbourne University Science Gallery, the event offered its guests Natio giveaways for all attendees, exclusive Jaquie vegan leather jackets for lucky winners from Portofino Trading, and exquisite, sustainable luxury tea towels from Punar by Priya Ravindra.
