Aamir Khan’s son Azad achieves a milestone as he steps ahead of mother Kiran Rao

Mumbai, Oct 9 (IANS) — Filmmaker Kiran Rao shared a heartwarming moment on social media, celebrating her son Azad Rao Khan reaching a special milestone — he’s now taller than his mother.

Taking to Instagram, Kiran posted two photos with Azad, playfully admitting that her son has officially overtaken her in height. She captioned the post,
“Ok fine, I concede that Azad’s a little bit taller than me now. He didn’t need to flatten my hair to prove it. The second picture is from a few years ago — thanks @hinabi for the memory…”

In the first image, Kiran smiles as Azad rests his hand atop her head, highlighting his growth spurt. The second throwback photo shows a younger Azad, when Kiran still stood slightly taller — capturing the passage of time in a touching mother-son moment.

Azad Rao Khan, born in 2011 through IVF surrogacy, is the son of actor Aamir Khan and Kiran Rao. The couple, who married in 2005 and amicably separated in 2021, continue to co-parent their son with mutual respect and affection.

In an earlier appearance on Kareena Kapoor’s talk show “What Women Want,” Kiran opened up about their co-parenting journey, saying, “Now it’s much smoother, and Aamir is more involved. Luckily, we live one floor apart, and even when we move, we’ll stay close. Azad enjoys spending time with his dad a lot more now that he’s older. It’s reached a really nice stage — I feel I can relax and leave Azad with Aamir.”

With her trademark wit, she added, “Only, Aamir knows nothing about school! I think that’s a common dad thing — they’ll handle everything except homework.”
