NSW parliament hosts Holi celebration, showcasing cultural harmony

Holi was marked with enthusiasm at the New South Wales parliament in Sydney, as leaders, officials and community members gathered to celebrate the festival of colours and unity.

The event was organised by the NSW Parliamentary Friends of India in collaboration with the Consulate General of India in Sydney, continuing a tradition that began in 2024. This year’s programme marked the third consecutive celebration at the Parliament.

Consul General Dr S. Janakiraman attended the event along with co-chairs of the NSW Parliamentary Friends of India, MP Warren Kirby and MP Gurmesh Singh. The celebration was also attended by Members of Parliament, community representatives and guests from diverse backgrounds.

The gathering reflected the essence of Holi—joy, inclusivity and togetherness—while reinforcing cultural connections between India and Australia.

Organisers acknowledged the support of the NSW Government and Indian community groups in promoting Indian culture and festivals. The event highlighted the strengthening relationship between the two nations through cultural engagement and community participation.
