Indian-origin artist Rakhi Bose has been awarded the Artist of the Year 2026 honour by the Office of Multicultural Interests, recognising her significant contribution to the state’s multicultural arts landscape.
With over 15 years of dedication to the performing arts, Bose has played a key role in promoting Indian culture through her Academy of Indian Classical and Bollywood Dance. Her work blends classical and contemporary styles, helping build cultural connections and empower communities across Western Australia.
Through her performances and teaching, she has inspired countless individuals and contributed to strengthening cross-cultural understanding. The recognition places her among a select group of Indian artists, including Sindhu Nair, who have received the award for their impact on the multicultural community.
Community leaders noted that such recognition highlights the important role of artists in fostering inclusivity and cultural dialogue, while celebrating the growing influence of the Indian diaspora in Australia’s creative landscape.
