AFC Women’s Asian Cup trophy arrives at Indian Consulate in Sydney

 The official trophy of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup made a special appearance at the Consulate General of India in Sydney, signalling growing excitement ahead of the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Australia 2026. The visit featured Sarah Walsh, Chief Operating Officer of the tournament, alongside Consul General Dr S. Janakiraman.

The championship will bring together 12 national teams across three Australian host cities, highlighting the rapid rise of women’s football in Asia and promoting unity through sport. Officials described the trophy visit as a symbolic moment celebrating the spirit of competition and international friendship.

The Consulate also extended a warm welcome to the Indian Women’s Football Team, which has qualified for the tournament for the first time through the official qualification pathway. The team is scheduled to play matches in Sydney and Perth between March 1 and March 21, 2026, marking a significant milestone for Indian football.

Fans are eagerly anticipating India’s match against Chinese Taipei on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at Western Sydney Stadium in Parramatta. Organisers encouraged members of the Indian diaspora and supporters to attend the games, visit fan zones and cheer on the national team as they compete on the continental stage.

Tickets for the tournament are now on sale, with officials inviting the community to be part of a championship that celebrates excellence, cultural connection and the power of sport to bring people together.
