New Delhi, Nov 3 (IANS): In a significant move to mark a new era, Williams Racing will officially be rebranded as the Williams F1 Team from the 2026 Formula 1 season, reflecting a refreshed identity for the legendary British outfit.
The Grove-based team, one of Formula 1’s most successful constructors, boasts nine Constructors’ Championships (third on the all-time list), seven Drivers’ titles, and 114 Grand Prix victories.
Under the ownership of Dorilton Capital and the leadership of James Vowles, Williams have been in the midst of a major rebuild and are set for an impressive fifth-place finish in this year’s Constructors’ Championship. The team has scored 111 points so far — more than their total from the last seven seasons combined.
With the introduction of new chassis and power unit regulations in 2026, Williams will not only adopt a new name but also unveil a modernized team logo. The existing “W” will be replaced with a 21st-century reimagining of founder Sir Frank Williams’ classic “Forward W”, first introduced in 1977.
Vowles shared his excitement, saying, “From next year, we will be known as the Atlassian Williams F1 Team, carrying a logo inspired by our founder Sir Frank Williams and deeply connected to our decades of success.
“As a team, we draw strength from our heritage but are driven by a bold vision for the future. This evolved identity embodies who we are, where we’re headed, and reintroduces our title-winning legacy to a new generation of Formula 1 fans.”
On the track, Alex Albon has been enjoying his strongest campaign since 2020, currently sitting eighth in the Drivers’ Championship, while Carlos Sainz handed Williams their first podium since 2021 with a stellar third-place finish in Baku.
Heading into the São Paulo Grand Prix, the team occupies fifth place in the Constructors’ standings, 39 points clear of Racing Bulls, with four race weekends remaining, including two Sprint events.
