Former Miss Universe India Vartika Singh shares ‘HAQ’ stirred something deep within her

Mumbai, Oct 31 (IANS) — Former Miss Universe India Vartika Singh, who is set to make her Bollywood debut with the upcoming film “HAQ,” revealed that the story profoundly moved her and connected with her on a deeply personal level.

In an exclusive statement shared with IANS, Vartika said, “HAQ is a story that stirred something deep within me. This journey made me dig deeper and find honesty in every moment. I discovered parts of myself I didn’t know existed. I’m truly grateful to Junglee Pictures for believing in me and giving me this opportunity. I just hope the film touches people the way it touched me.”

On Friday, the makers unveiled the film’s first-look poster on social media, which Vartika also shared on Instagram with the caption: “The world judged her, but she faced them all fearlessly! Really excited and proud to be a part of my debut film #Haq — releasing in cinemas on November 7.”

The poster captures Vartika in a raw and introspective moment — dressed in earthy tones, her calm yet intense expression reflects both strength and vulnerability, offering a glimpse into the emotional depth of her character.

To prepare for the role, the Lucknow-born actress underwent weeks of intensive workshops, exploring emotional memory techniques to embody her character authentically. Notably, key portions of the film were shot in her hometown, adding a personal dimension to her debut experience.

Directed by Suparn Varma, “Haq” also stars Emraan Hashmi as a sharp, determined lawyer, alongside Yami Gautam in a pivotal role. The courtroom drama draws inspiration from the landmark Supreme Court case Mohd. Ahmed Khan vs. Shah Bano Begum.

“Haq” is slated for theatrical release on November 7, 2025.
