Mhow (Ambedkar Nagar), Oct 9 (IANS) — Four people lost their lives in a horrific road accident on the Nanded Bridge near Avle village in Madhya Pradesh’s Mhow on Wednesday night.
According to police, a speeding car traveling from Mhow lost control on the bridge and crashed head-on into a van coming from the opposite direction. The van, which was fitted with a gas kit, caught fire immediately after the impact, trapping passengers inside.
Eyewitnesses reported that the blaze spread rapidly, making rescue efforts by bystanders impossible until the fire brigade arrived. Firefighters eventually managed to douse the flames and recovered two charred bodies from the van.
The deceased have been identified as Pawan Singhwal and Kamle Gurjar, both residents of Manpur. The car’s occupants — Ravindra, a resident of Dhamnod, and his companion — were rescued in critical condition but succumbed to their injuries during treatment at a nearby hospital.
Two other individuals — Golu (25) and Chetan (20) of Dharampuri in Basoda, and Sanjay (22) of Bagwana — sustained injuries and are currently undergoing treatment.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash. Preliminary findings suggest that overspeeding and a possible mechanical failure may have played a role. Authorities also plan to inspect the gas kit installation and review CCTV footage from the bridge.
The incident has raised fresh concerns over road safety and the use of gas kits in passenger vehicles.
