Alia Bhatt is ‘mama’ Soni Razdan’s ‘biggest fan’

Mumbai, Aug 28 (IANS) – Actress Alia Bhatt showered love and admiration on her mother, veteran star Soni Razdan, for her role in the upcoming period drama Songs of Paradise. The Bollywood diva said that seeing her mother perform on screen is her “greatest delight” and proudly declared herself her “biggest fan.”

Taking to Instagram Stories, Alia praised both Razdan and co-star Saba Azad. She wrote: “Songs of Paradise is a heartfelt journey of music, hardship and dreams. What a wonderful performance by @sabazad — you blended innocence with strength so beautifully in this tale of freedom.”

Turning to her mother, Alia expressed: “And my mama @sonirazdan, watching you on screen is my greatest delight. I think I’m your biggest fan, and to me, you could never, ever have a single fault.”

The actress also complimented director Danish Renzu, writing: “@danishrenzu, this is such an authentic tale of talent and beauty, set in a time when we had no access to information like we do today. Big congratulations to the entire cast for creating this magic on screen… Loved this film!”

Inspired by the life of Padma Shri awardee Raj Begum, the film stars Saba Azad and Soni Razdan, who portray the lead character across two time periods. It serves as an ode to Raj Begum’s remarkable musical journey, enriched by compositions from Abhay Sopori and vocals by Masrat Un Nissa, set against the rich cultural landscape of Kashmir.

Directed by Danish Renzu and co-written with Niranjan Iyengar and Sunayana Kachroo, Songs of Paradise is presented by Excel Entertainment and produced by Apple Tree Pictures and Renzu Films. The film is set to premiere on Prime Video on August 29.
