Hospitals refusing RGHS services face removal; Rajasthan govt prepares to empanel new facilities

Jaipur, Aug 27 (IANS) – The Rajasthan government has announced strict action against hospitals in Jaipur and other cities that are refusing to provide treatment under the Rajasthan Government Health Scheme (RGHS). According to an official statement issued Wednesday, hospitals declining services will be removed from the RGHS panel, with new facilities to be empaneled in their place.

Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary of the Medical and Health Department, said a list of non-compliant hospitals is being compiled. “Action will be taken against such hospitals as per the rules, and they will be removed from the panel,” she stated.

Currently, over 50% of hospitals in the state are offering treatment under RGHS, while some operators have refused to cooperate. To ensure beneficiaries continue receiving care without disruption, the government plans to empanel additional hospitals at key locations. More than 350 hospitals across Rajasthan have already applied to join the scheme.

The move follows complaints of irregularities at around 5–7 private hospitals in Jaipur. These facilities were fined amounts ranging from thousands to lakhs of rupees. In response, some hospital operators formed a new association and announced they would stop providing RGHS services, while trying to rally support from other private hospitals and pharmacy operators across the state.

Meanwhile, the Health Department has settled most pending dues. Officials confirmed that since April, hospitals have received over ₹850 crore under RGHS. Nearly all payments pending before March 2025 have been cleared, except for those facilities facing irregularity investigations or proven violations, whose payments remain withheld.
