Mumbai, Aug 27 (IANS) – Actress Shilpa Shetty, who is known for her grand Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations, shared that she isn’t hosting festivities this year and deeply misses having Lord Ganesha at home.
Taking to Instagram, Shilpa posted a reel compiling memories from previous Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations with her family — including her husband Raj Kundra, sister Shamita Shetty, their children, and mother.
She captioned the post: “Home feels incomplete without you this year, but the heart is full of your blessings. Ganpati Bappa Morya, pudchya varshi lavkar ya. #GanpatiBappaMorya #Gratitude #Blessed #GaneshChaturthi #GannuRaja.”
On August 25, Shilpa had announced that she would not celebrate the festival this year due to a bereavement in the family. Sharing a statement on her Instagram Stories, she wrote: “Dear friends, with deep grief we regret to inform you that due to a bereavement in the family, we will not be holding our Ganpati celebrations this year. As per tradition, we will observe a 13-day mourning period and refrain from any religious festivities. We seek your understanding and prayers. With gratitude – The Kundra Family.”
Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, marks the birth of Lord Ganesha, worshipped as the remover of obstacles and the deity of wisdom and prosperity. Across India, the festival is celebrated by installing Ganesha idols at homes and in public pandals with great devotion.
On the work front, Shilpa was last seen in the slice-of-life comedy “Sukhee.” She will next appear in the Kannada action drama “KD: The Devil,” directed by Prem, co-starring Dhruva Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, V. Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah, and Nora Fatehi.
