Mumbai, Aug 25 (IANS): Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty, known for hosting grand Ganpati festivities each year, has announced that her family will not be celebrating Ganesh Chaturthi this time following a bereavement.
Taking to Instagram Stories, Shilpa shared an official statement:
“Dear friends, with deep grief we regret to inform you that due to a bereavement in the family, this year we will not be holding our Ganpati celebrations.”
She further mentioned that the family will observe a traditional 13-day mourning period and refrain from any religious festivities. “We seek your understanding and prayers. With gratitude – The Kundra Family,” she added. For the caption, Shilpa wrote, “Ganpati Bappa Morya, pudchya varshi lavkar ya” (O Lord Ganesha, come again soon next year).
Shilpa is often admired for her enthusiastic Ganpati celebrations, which have become a highlight among Bollywood festivities.
On the work front, she was last seen in Sonal Joshi’s directorial debut Sukhee, a slice-of-life comedy-drama about Sukhpreet “Sukhee” Kalra, a 38-year-old Punjabi housewife who rediscovers herself during a trip to Delhi for her high school reunion.
Shilpa will next appear in KD: The Devil, a Kannada action drama directed by Prem, co-starring Dhruva Sarja, Sanjay Dutt, V. Ravichandran, Ramesh Aravind, Reeshma Nanaiah, and Nora Fatehi.
Meanwhile, her husband Raj Kundra is set to feature in the Punjabi film Mehar, which follows the emotional journey of Karamjit, a rural man striving to reclaim his dignity as a father, husband, and son.
