The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (popularly known as the Hare Krishna Movement) takes great pleasure in extending an invitation to you and your congregation at our Festival of Chariots event at King George Square on 1st October 2022
We are great admirers of the work that you and your organizations do in promoting integration and friendship among people of different cultures and faith communities and would be greatly honored if you would join us for the festival.
This ancient festival called ‘Ratha-Yatra’ which originated on the east coast of India and is celebrated in major cities around the world has been a fixture in Brisbane’s calendar since 2013. It is a joyous event celebrated for thousands of years in the Indian holy city of Jagannatha Puri, and more recently the Hare Krishna devotees have taken this festival all around the world.
The Ratha-Yatra festival is the most unique Hindu festival, as it’s the only festival where the sacred deities from within the temple shrine come out to the streets, to bless all those who have the good fortune to witness the momentous occasion. On the day, as well as the iconic procession through the CBD, the festival will also include stage performances, interactive stalls, and Q&A tents, and the world-famous Hare Krishna Feast!
The parade starts at 11:30 am from King George Square followed by a stage program at 12:30 pm.
Come with an empty stomach for the delicious feast and an open heart to be filled with love and inspiration!
If you feel inspired our Facebook event can also be shared with your congregation.
